Wedding Gift of Life

SSP has a very special wedding coming up on Friday, July 26th, 2019. I get to capture the love of two people who each hold a very special place in my heart. Keegan is my “baby” cousin. I vividly remember going to see him at the hospital the day after he was born. I actually “snuck in” because only siblings were allowed to visit and I remember being told that I had to pretend he was my new baby brother if I wanted to see him.  In high school, Keegan met the love of his life. I had heard her name before but I first met Lindsay when Keegan brought her to camp for a visit. These high school sweethearts have been counting down the days to saying “I do” for 9.5 years… and I’ve been telling Lindsay that we’re finally, almost, officially cousins for that long too. Lindsay’s special place in my heart comes not only from her kindness, but her strength. I’ve looked up to her for so long as she is brave, fearless and has such a positive outlook on life. She lives with Cystic Fibrosis and has undergone not one, but two double lung transplants. (Like a champ I may add.) Amidst it all, she has been there for me through tough times and she is truly an inspiration to many others as well.

In honour of Lindsay and Keegan, and their fairy tale wedding coming up on Friday, I am excited to announce the SSP “Wedding Gift of Life” Program. Shaylan Spurway Photography has registered with BeADonor.ca and The Trillium Gift of Life Network to create a campaign to help increase the number of registered organ donors in Ontario.  I was very surprised to learn that over 1,500 Ontarians are waiting for a live-saving organ transplant but only 30% of Ontarians have registered their consent to be donors. It only takes 2 minutes to register to be an organ donor. You can register online simply with your health card number by visiting the unique campaign link below. One donor can save up to 8 lives through organ donation and enhance the lives of up to 75 more through the gift of tissue. SSP has set a goal to get 100 new donors in honour of Lindsay and Keegan’s wedding. Not only will this program help increase the number of registered donors in Ontario, but it will spread awareness about organ donation as well.
